Open Carry Lawsuit in Englewood Colorado

englewood colorado open carry

A man is filing a lawsuite against the city of Englewood Colorado after he was arrested back in 2014 for open carrying his handgun at a gas station in the area.

Westin Sandberg says he was trying to raise awareness and exercise his right to carrying a firearm. Colorado law allows that citizens open carry a firearm without a permit in public with few exceptions. At the time Mr Sandberg was arrested and detained with his gun and ammunition being illegally seized. His charges were eventually dropped but he feels the need to take this the extra mile by filing a lawsuit.

I am a big fan of our rights to arm ourselves both openly and concealed. I for one prefer to not draw attention and become the target of politics, news, and crime so I keep mine concealed. I do hope all the same that this story can bring some awareness to law enforcement and citizens of Colorado.

One Response to Open Carry Lawsuit in Englewood Colorado

    Good evening,
As of April 27th, 2017 the federal court has dismissed all the claims of the lawsuit against the officers, Chief of Police, District attorney and the city of Englewood. The court decision comes from the dishonest claim that there “is no law that states that open carry is legal in Colorado.” We have begun the process of appealing this decision, and intend to take it all the way up the court systems if necessary. The right of the people to keep and bear arms is of utmost importance to the defense of liberty, and the security of our Republic. We intend to remind the city of Englewood that they took an oath to defend the Constitution, and to preserve the liberties of her People. Without the defense of the Second Amendment there can be no liberty, and it is absolutely vital that both the Government, and her Constituents understand and acknowledge just that.
    God Bless America,
    Semper Fidelis,
    Westin Sandberg,
    USMC Veteran.
