Pro Gun Bills Die in Colorado House
In Colorado the legislature is split on party lines. The Senate enjoys a slight Republican majority and the House enjoys a Democratic majority. Gun owners felt this earlier this week when five different gun rights bills were defeated in the Colorado House State, Veterans & Military Affairs Committee.
SB 16-017 would have allowed Colorado citizens to carry a concealed handgun without being required to obtain the Colorado concealed handgun permit. A concept generally referred to as “Constitutional Carry” in the gun right community.
HB 16-1204 would have allowed concealed carry of guns in Colorado public schools
HB 16-1023 would have extended the right to use deadly force against an intruder to owners, managers, and employees of a business instead of just home owners
HB 1179 would have exempted all active-duty military members from concealed-carry laws
HB 16-1024 would have repealed the 2013 restriction on the transfers of high-capacity magazines
Gee, my surprised face:
I sat through the testimonials at the Capitol in 2012, watching the proponents of those bills get coddled with kid gloves, pandered to and fawned over by the Democratic “sponsors” of those bills, all the while the opponents of those bills were condescended, minimized and ignored.
It was very clear that despite an overflowing chamber of opposition that the fix was in. Those bills were bought and paid for by the administration in Washington, Bloombergs “Mayors Against Illegal Guns” and other factions.
We no longer live in a “Constitutional Republic”, rather we live in a banana republic where policy is dictated by deep pockets.
Until we as Coloradoans wake up and realize what Democratic “policies” have done to our western, conservative state and that those policies have not benefited the citizens of this state, bills such as those that died this week have no chance of passing/repeal.
Your vote counts.
What’s wrong with needing training and licence to carry a concealed handgun?
Joe, depends on who you ask. Like many issues in our community the question of requiring training is one that splits many gun owners. Here is the most thorough discussion on the matter:
